How to book the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Private Balcony, 2 Living Rooms, 2 Blocks to King! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
