How to book the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Rutledge Ave - Renovated 2 Bed Home - Downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
