How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Billfish Bungalow - 4 mi to downtown & 6 mi beach has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
