Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Panoramic Marsh View, Private w\/ screened porch & rooftop - 33 Marsh Island has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
