Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Panoramic Marsh View, Private w\/ screened porch & rooftop - 33 Marsh Island has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Have a great stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
