Strategies to get the best Charleston area rental experience:
When to book a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. King Street Luxurious Retreat - Amazing Balconies! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
