When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.

Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. King Street Luxurious Retreat - Amazing Balconies! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective.
