Rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Brighton and Carriage House has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
