Tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Start by having your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. THE PEARL! Newly Updated 7bd\/7ba IOP Home Private POOL & Ocean VIEWS! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
