Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Private Pool & Historic Home ‘Summer Haze’ has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
