Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation rental in Charleston:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stunning Private Courtyard - 1 BLOCK TO KING! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
