Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- First, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Manor 93 A&B - 2 Newly Renovated Units in Downtown Charleston! has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
