Booking the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- To start, have your group choose trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Featured Luxury home- across from beach, pool\/hot tub, elevator, Ocean Views! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
