Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect rental in Charleston:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 5BD DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON- WEEKENDS LEFT IN NOVEMBER & DECEMBER has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
