Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing your Charleston area rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Luxury Beach Living, Pool, Walk to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
