How to find the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Spacious Beach Home w\/Private Pool, Elevator, & Prime Location! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
