Strategies for getting the best Charleston rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Sea Island Suite at 360 King has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
