Our top Charleston rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in Charleston. To get the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation home in Charleston:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Calm & Bright Apartment Downtown has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
