The Nicholas has a carriage home that has been completely remodeled and converted into two gorgeous rooms with king-sized beds on the first floor. These comfortable rooms feature the original exposed brick walls from the late 1700’s. Although upgraded to provide the modern amenities of daily life, the brick masonry, millwork, and other historic features have been ideally preserved and restored to offer guests all the chic and modern amenities you’d expect in your own home with the beauty and history of architecture that is over 225 years old. These rooms have spectacular and unique roof lines and the quality craftsmanship of the 18th century, while providing modern conveniences and upgrades for the best of both worlds.
The front door to your room opens to our outdoor terrace that offers a cozy sitting area where you can have your morning coffee, savor a glass of wine, or have a dip in our pool while taking in the grand appeal of downtown Charleson’s historic landscape. The carriage home is comfortable and peaceful. It is an amazing way to be in the action of the city while appreciating a feeling of seclusion and serenity.

Tips for getting the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking the best Charleston area rental:
- To start, have your group select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Historic B&B King Suite- Walk to King has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
