Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Charleston. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Great Charleston SC location in West Ashley has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
