Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charleston Style Full Duplex - 2 Blocks to King St has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
