Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing a perfect Charleston area rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Charleston Style Full Duplex - 2 Blocks to King St has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
