Booking the best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Pink House - Downtown Duplex - Sleeps 20 has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
