Our top Charleston area vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To book the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Ashley Veranda King Suite includes Breakfast has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.

  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
