Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your prefect Charleston area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. King Veranda Suite with Breakfast has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
