How to find the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT STUNNER- Discounted Rates! Pool, Hot Tub, Elevator???? has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
