Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. State St A by AvantStay
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
