Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming Downtown Charleston, Near Hampton Park has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
