Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your Charleston area rental:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2BR Chic, Comfortable, Walkable and Ideal for 2024 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
