Getting the best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Isle of Palms:
- First and foremost, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Hot tub, Private Pool, Pet Friendly, Sunset Views! - 600 Palm has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
