Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Hot tub, Private Pool, Pet Friendly, Sunset Views! - 600 Palm has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
