Our top Charleston area vacation rental booking tips:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Stunning Home! Pool, Theater Room, Steps to Beach - 3 46th Avenue has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
