Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
When to book a Charleston area rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Stunning Beach House, Fully Renovated, Pool, Theater Room, Steps to Beach -3 46th Avenue has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
