Charleston vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Downtown Charleston Heated Pool - 1 Block to King has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
