Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. East Bay Home *Historic District* Walk Everywhere! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
