Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, change your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. - Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
