Getting the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Single Family Downtown House with Private Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
