Tricks and tips to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. NEW! Cozy & Only ~8 Min Drive to Downtown & Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
