Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sophisticated, Luxurious, Walk Everywhere! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
