Vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Charleston. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Charleston area rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sophisticated, Luxurious, Walk Everywhere! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
