How to get the best Charleston vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the right Charleston area rental home:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Nicholas Veranda King Suite- 1 Block to King has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
