Finding the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Downtown-One-of-a-Kind Romantic Luxury Residence 5BR, 3BA Sleeps 10 to 12 has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
