How to find the best Charleston area rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental.
