Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. ? THE INNS ? Bright & Breezy Large Luxury Suite! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
