Getting the best Charleston area rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book yourrental:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1307 Cove Avenue by AvantStay
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
