Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your Charleston area vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Jessamine by AvantStay
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
