Tricks and tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Charleston area vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:

Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home.
