Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- To start, have your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 2BR\/2BA - Steps to Beach & Pier - Best Value on IOP! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
