Sticking to your budget:

- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 516 Seascape
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.

More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
