Tricks and tips for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- To find the best value, change your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental in Isle of Palms:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Isle of Palms Group Retreat has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
