Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in Charleston:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Elegance Redefined has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
