Other things to note:

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Your safety and comfort are our priority. In the unlikely event of a MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR CHARLESTON COUNTY during your stay, rest assured that both the Owner/Host and the Property Management Company WILL REFUND 100% OF YOUR PAYMENTS. Once refunded, neither event will have further liability regarding your Reservation.

Please note that ONLY MANDATORY EVACUATIONS WILL QUALIFY FOR REFUNDS. No other travel disruptions due to weather, whether in South Carolina or other states, are eligible. For protection, consider travel insurance, especially in high-risk months like hurricane season. Airbnb's insurance or other options are recommended.

INSECTS

As Charleston is located in a warm, coastal climate it is possible to see insects inside or outside of the home at times. These include palmetto bugs, sand gnats, mosquitoes, ants, etc. Those who live in the Lowcountry just accept this as part of living here but it may be unsettling for those from other areas. The home is treated regularly for pest control but this will not entirely eliminate insects from getting inside at times. Please do your best to not keep doors and windows open and not leave food or drinks out in the home as this will attract insects. FINDING AN INSECT IS NOT CAUSE FOR A REFUND

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Charleston area rental:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Sunny Haven 4br\/2ba Retreat near Folly w\/ Backyard Oasis! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
