INCLEMENT WEATHER

Your safety and comfort are our priority. In the unlikely event of a MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR CHARLESTON COUNTY during your stay, rest assured that both the Owner/Host and the Property Management Company WILL REFUND 100% OF YOUR PAYMENTS. Once refunded, neither event will have further liability regarding your Reservation.

Please note that ONLY MANDATORY EVACUATIONS WILL QUALIFY FOR REFUNDS. No other travel disruptions due to weather, whether in South Carolina or other states, are eligible. For protection, consider travel insurance, especially in high-risk months like hurricane season. Airbnb's insurance or other options are recommended.

INSECTS

As Charleston is located in a warm, coastal climate it is possible to see insects inside or outside of the home at times. These include palmetto bugs, sand gnats, mosquitoes, ants, etc. Those who live in the Lowcountry just accept this as part of living here but it may be unsettling for those from other areas. The home is treated regularly for pest control but this will not entirely eliminate insects from getting inside at times. Please do your best to not keep doors and windows open and not leave food or drinks out in the home as this will attract insects. FINDING AN INSECT IS NOT CAUSE FOR A REFUND

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area rental experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to book:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Sunny Haven 4br\/2ba Retreat near Folly w\/ Backyard Oasis! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
