How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Marquee On King & and Historic Market! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
