Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston rental experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Charleston area rental home:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. The Marquee On King & and Historic Market! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
