Strategies to get the perfect Charleston rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental home in Charleston:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Entire Home Rental in Downtown Charleston! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
