Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Charleston area rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefect Charleston area rental:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Globetrotter: Your Gateway to Historic Wonders has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
