Tricks and tips to get the optimal Charleston area rental home experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home in Charleston:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2 Bedroom 2 bath Upscale Apartment near Colonial Lake has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
