Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Bogard Duo 6 Bed 6 Bath has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
