Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking the right Charleston area rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. ????3 53rd Ave~ Stunning Ocean Views, Pool, Hot Tub, Elevator, Mother-in-law Suite???? has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
